Classes FAQ

This list of questions and answers will help you understanding how our classes are conducted while the risk of Covid-19 is still present.

Will I be preparing my own food?

Our classes are demonstration type of events. The chef will be cooking and teaching how all the food is made before serving it to you. Limited hands on classes will be indicated. Check our online classes, in blue, for more hands-on type of events to do from home!

Why do we have to register in pairs?

In order to keep you safe, we have reduced the number of tables in our kitchen so we can spread them apart. However, each table seat 2 students. In order to maximize space, we will give priority to any group of 2 participants.

What if I want to come alone?

We will take your name and contact number. We will be able to confirm, or not, your seating 48 hrs prior to the event.

I have a credit or a gift certificate, how can use it toward a class?

Give us a call or visit us to register. We will need your name to find your credit or gift certificate number. If your credit doesn’t cover the cost of the class you’re registering for, you can pay the difference by credit card over the phone, or by cash and debit in store.

Will there be distancing from other participants?

Our tables are all tables for 2, which is why we encourage you to register with someone from your “bubble”, someone you are comfortable seating next to. But all tables will be distanced from each other.

Can I reserve my seat?

No, sorry. Seating is first come first served! You can come up to 15 min prior to the event start, no earlier. If you come earlier, please wait outside, while respecting social distancing!

Do I have to wear a mask?

We ask you to bring your own mask to wear while you are browsing the store, to use the bathroom, and as much as possible, anytime you’re not eating.

Will the staff wear masks?

Chefs will not wear masks, unless they choose to, as they will be standing away from you. Serving staff and store attendant will wear masks.

What about hand sanitizer or gloves?

You will be asked to use hand sanitizer or wear disposable gloves provided by us upon entering the store, before you take your seat. We ask that you use hand sanitizer again when you leave the kitchen area and re-enter the store to shop. You can not browse the store and touch any items without using hand sanitizer prior!

Can we shop during the class?

Yes! As usual, we do offer 10% off towards any shopping done the day of the class. However, as we allow a restricted number of people in the store at once, we will encourage you to shop anytime during the class, rather that waiting the intermission or the end of the class. If you prefer to enjoy your 10% off another time, we will give you a code to redeem in the next 30 days, to shop online or in store, at your convenience (code can only be used once in the 30 days period, and only by class attendees).

What other measures are in place to keep us safe?

Reduce seating capacity. Tables spread apart. Serving staff will be wearing mask. Limited number of customers in the store at once. Upgraded cleaning procedures. Sanitizing of all surfaces and bathroom before and after each event.

How much food is serve?

Usually, 3 courses are being served in an event, unless otherwise noted, or specialty class (such as Sourdough, pastry classes, technical classes). Portions may not be full portions each, but enough to fill you up by the end of the class, so come hungry!

Can I take home leftovers?

Sorry, no.

What if I have food allergies?

Please talk to us before registering. Food allergies can not always be accommodated. Our Chef will be able to decide whether or not modifications can be made, if you give us at least 72 hours notice.

If I cancel will I get a refund?

You will get a full refund when cancelling 72 hours prior event starts. Any cancellation within 72 hours will not be refunded. No exceptions. You can send someone in your place.

What happens if Covid-19 restrictions changes before the event?

Unfortunately, since the beginning of the pandemic, it has been very hard to predict when restrictions will be lifted or back in place. We only schedule events for dates when the restrictions allow. However, if we no longer can run the event, we will cancel or postpone it to a later date. You will be notified by email as soon as we cancel and we will offer you a choice of either leaving your credit with us for a later event, or to use this credit to shop in store, or you can be issued a refund.

To acknowledge…

Attending any sorts of social event is a risk that you are willing to take when you come for our cooking classes. You will be asked to sign a waiver upon entering the store, include your contact information, certify that you are in good health and agree to accept the risks without holding Eden West Gourmet responsible. We have included a link for your fill it online in advance of the class, so you can just take your seat upon arrival! If you choose not to fill it online, we will have printed copies available. Please do not fill the form earlier than 24 hours prior to the event, so the information is current. Waivers that are received earlier than a day before the event will be invalid. We will keep your information on file, so we can reach you if needed.
