Here is a Mediterranean native that is sweet and very aromatic with licorice flavour. Anise Seed is excellent for both sweet and savoury applications. Anise Seed is used to flavour the much-loved French liqueur pastis. It is excellent in marinades for grilled lamb or chicken, in pork sausages, and in sweets such as biscotti and pizelle. It is also a key spice used in Indian cooking and is found in paan, a wonderful aromatic digestive served after an Indian meal.
