Ground nutmeg is derived from a hard brown seed and has a warm and spicy flavour. It is an essential flavouring in many baked goods including zucchini or pumpkin bread and bread pudding. Excellent with sautéed spinach or in a squash filling for ravioli and is a flavouring in the custard for a traditional Quiche Lorraine.
